There’s a large possibility that Ukraine is doing these more dramatic hits into Russia *because* the US has abandoned them, so if you’re looking for those responsible for Russian refineries getting torched, you need only look into a mirror

The US don’t understand that the only way the Ukrainians can stop and push back the Russian juggernaut is to hit and disable Russia from within. These are publicly facing comments so don’t automatically take them at face value. There is a good chance they just need to appear against as part of the boiling frog approach to handling Russia while preventing any sudden crisis point.
The USA has to say this in order to prevent Russia from successfully to it’s people that this entire war is the US’s fault. Plausible deniability while I suspect most if not all American diplomats are applauding this.
I get why the US government does not support this but fuck them; Ukraine is allowed to use whatever means they have within their disposal to defeat the invaders, provided they do not commit war crimes. Destroying the war machine of Russia, including it’s streams of income is well within the rights of Ukraine.
