One quick google search will give 100 more results the same as mine, the world needs to open their eyes, everyone is literally kissing up to the Turks, and so many are so blind to the truth, but the fact is this nation and government was founded on corrupted standards, and blood of innocents, and we see it every single day, but the fact that so many turks are in governmental and other official positions in Europe, means alot is brushed off under the couch. When a Kurd wants freedom to be a Kurd, meaning speak his language, have his own human rights, wear their own clothes, celebrate their own holidays, they are called PKK terrorists. But when the Grey wolves attack kurds, try to burn them up in their homes like they did in Belgium 2 weeks ago, then it was act of provocation by Kurds because they waved their Flag, and said Kurdistan, on the day of Nawroz, our yearly holiday.

That’s a lot more than corruption. It’s a clear sign that the democratic process is just a show.
❤☀️💚
It’s ironic that Türkiye is so supportive of Palestine against Isreals occupation and brutality, while the Türkish government brutalies their minorities and occupy Kurdistan and a part of Cyprus.
Democratic process is violated however terrorist sympathies are unacceptable in any civilized society. Glorification of terror by that mayor-elect was ought to bring the hammer.
What does mean “replace”? Does Turkey have a law “ignore elections and put whatever mayor you want”? How does it works even procedurally?
Awful country.
I cant find the edit button so ill just say it here, before the “MUH KURDS PKK TERRORIST” comments are coming,
Remember one simple fact, and go look it up and prove my point. The PKK itself for whatever it is today in the eyes of the world, was created during the time which it was a crime to be Kurdish, the government had utterly decimated Kurdishness, it was illegal to speak kurdish, have kurdish names, clothes, books, storenames, individual names, and it was illegal to teach, learn, or in anyway communicate in Kurdish. It was also during this time that Kurds were denied an identity, instead being called “Mountain Turks speaking an old dialect of turkish” just to pressure the entire kurdish question into folding.
I dont condone actions of PKK, i dont support violence, but i support the truth and facts.
PKK is the product of the evilness of Turkey.
You turk sympathizers can downvote as much as you want but the truth IS PLAIN TO SEE
Why are you so obsessed with what’s going on in foreign countries? It’s not your business, you’re not the front runner of justice in the world
The world isnt blind but foreign politics is much more complex than you would like it to be. Turkey is bending every single aspect it can already to the limit. Your example is just one of them. Since there are interdependencies between nations just cutting of one from the other is simply not working unless you want utter chaos in the world.
What does this have to do with Europe? Van province is in the eastern part of Turkey, 1200km from the European borders. Its not even close to European borders like other Turkish cities.
This is so sad 🙁 Wishing the best for the kurds that have to deal with this injustice
PKK bot propaganda, username check, “emotional” answers check.
Last time this parties mayors turned out to be big PKK supporters so I’m surprised they were even allowed to run in the elections.
Turkey is a corrupted country, no doubt, however, your rant is wrong and hateful as well. Noone kissings up to the Turks. Especially on this subreddit.
It was a best interest for Turks and Kurds living there in Turkey as Turkey managed to be a stronger and modern compared to neighbourhood’s countries. The nation was there and it is founded based on many international agreements as a result of righteous fight.
Of course, I or anyone else won’t deny that Turkish governments ignore the Kurds and their rights, but your narrative is quite hateful and wrong. You do the exact thing of Turkish governments (I meant the right wing parties like AKP, ANAP, DP)
PKK is a terorist organization like Hamas and both of them are always favoring the their “enemies” cuz they are backed up by them in order to consolidate their citizens by using nationalism. That is how Netanyahu or Erdogan stays in the power. Make a better “google” search next time instead of giving false information about the foundation of Turkey.
The story behind this :
The mayor in question was comdemned 6 years in jail for making PKK propaganda, and he also lost his right to be elected after his time in jail. After getting out of jail he made appel to the court decision to get back his right to be elected, and he got it back in 2023. The procuror didn’t make appel at that time, and only did it 2 day before the election this weeks.
The main opposition CHP think that the govt deliberalty wait the last moment to stole the city of Van, because otherwise the Kurdish party would have chose someone else to represent the city.
Also the man is real supporter of PKK, you can literally see Youtube video about him saying “PKK can drown Turkey with its spit”….so yeah this man should have no place to be in such position in Turkey, but the administration make dick move to wait the last second before saying this man cannot be elected so let give Van to AKP who come in second place in the city.
The Kurds can’t stay with Turkïye. Turkïye has abused them and continues to abuse them. The only solution is their own freedom
Cry about it terrorist pig
This is not corruption. He already had an ongoing legal process because he previously supported terrorist organization PKK. The court order came 2 days before the elections. And he lost his rights. Would the US constitution allow a candidate who openly supported ISIS to go into senate? I doubt it. This is actually called rule of law, not corruption. The other candidates who were elected from the same party are keeping their chairs.
Do you guys have a quota to fill for Turkey hate threads?
The guy openly supports PKK, therefore terrorism. Every country no matter how “democratic” it may be, wouldnt let him stay in office.
You guys should mind your own Business
> this nation was founded on blood of innocents.
How hypocritical you make a hate speech on a nation while criticising hate towards Kurds. The main opposition party, other parties, many media personalities criticised this heavily and the opposition part assigned a committee and sent it to Van. Many people showed their reaction on social media. It is not like everyone is smirking while this happened.
Also, PKK is a terrorist organisation recognized by everyone. PKK flag is not random flag. It is a flag of an organisation. it is different than Kurdish flag. So waving PKK flag is different than waving Kurdish flag.
And to be honest nothing is brushed under the carpet. There is no other issue as monitored as this one. Everything is very visible, and seen.
Welcome to Erdoganistan
Isn’t this just lies? No one is kissing Turks or anything like that. They are blatant racism against us. Not to say this situation is rightly protested by CHP. So what you are doing is asking people to hate Turkish people while %40 of that said people disagree with the decision. You can blame our government and please do but generalizing people is a really wrong way to do it.
This is not just corruption. This is Turkey just reminding that it is an ethnostate.
That “elected mayor” is an open terrorist and terror supporter with open investigations and cases against him. He wasnt even allowed to run normally, but the case was elevat3d to courts too late to not mess with the elections as a total, so he was disqualified afterwards.
Would US allow the election of a mayor who is a confirmed member of ISIS and openly supports them? Would Britain accept any politician that is and open member of NRA and has bodies and blood on their hands? Would Ukraine accept member of the Wagner to be a congressman?
Well i’m a Kurd and the only problem i have with this is that they didn’t lock him up and throw away the key.
The OP in the comments tries very hard to portray himself as a non PKK supporter and claims that this is a hate politics by Turks against Kurds. In reality OP is not from Turkey and imho a PKK sympathizer. You can read the comments and come to your own conclusion.
Kurdish parties in Turkey are quite often infiltrated by PKK members and puppets. When it becomes evident, they shut down the party and start a new one. Rinse and repeat. The OP is trying to feed on your humanity and dislike of Turkey to gain sympathy for the actions of the PKK. In reality PKK is an internationally recognized terrorist organisation and rightfully so. 40.000 Turkish citizens have been murdered by the PKK throughout the years. This is no joke. There used to be PKK terrorist attacks every week in the past. They have repeatedly attacked even places like schools, hospitals and libraries. PKK is not something to sympathize with no matter how much you dislike Turkey or hate the Turks.
Politics is a sh*t show in Turkey, yes, but Turkey has the right to stop PKK members, affiliates or sympathizers from coming to power. Heck even the politician who proposed the independence referendum for Catalonia in Spain was prosecuted. Does anybody expect Turkey to allow a person who is a known terrorist sympathizer and openly supported attacking Turkish military members to come to power?
PKK must end and the Kurds of Turkey must put an end to it. Build strong parties representing Kurds of Turkey without PKK involvement.
They get what they ~~deserve~~elect.
In my country, Turkey isn’t considered a “real” country anymore.
I have two Kurdish friends and yeah of course I concur but pointing out a problem does literally nothing to solve it.
There are Kurds in turkey, Iraq, Syria and Iran, let’s say, and all those nations are autocratic at best and totalitarian at worst.
So what can we do for the Kurds, realistically?
Ah, I was wondering what their actual response was going to be like.
Erdoğan allowed that man to run for mayor because he knew he can invalidate the election results because of that mans past actions.
DEM allowed that man to run for mayor because they knew Erdoğan was going invalidate election results and as a result they can increase their popularity and play the oppressed.
That man should never be allowed to run for mayor from the start, he was jailed, served his time and YSK(Supreme Electoral Council) allowed him to run for mayor and he got elected. There is no reason to invalidate his run for mayor AFTER the elections.
Racist pkk bot
Turkey needs a democracy. Erdogan is crazy with power and everybody sees it except the Turks for some reason.
