Ridiculous customs clearance invoice – what can I do?

  1. Hi Reddit!

While I’m happy to pay for the VAT and some processing fee, this is getting completely out of hand.

You can see that, running out of inspiration, they just named a 4th additional fee “Fixe Taxe”.

Taxes of 188 francs cannot magically become 310 francs and swallowed right away. What can I do?

    Thanks for your help <3

  2. What was the value of the goods you ordered? And did they enter it correctly in the paperwork? (I had an invoice where they entered an amount 100x too much, I called and they said it happens all the time)

Were the goods something where there are importantion limits? Or where duty as apposed to VAT is due?

  3. I actually just received a very similar invoice today.

Import tax fee – 300 chf (for wheels from germany around 4000chf)

import customs clearence – 21.50 chf – so basically 22 chf to process the import.

E-Doc – 91.50 chf. So because they offer electronic invoice, identical to the paper invoice i received, which i did not request or was asked about, i have to pay 92 chf more.

    registration – 9,7 chf

    paper – 8,50 chf (yep, 1 a4 paper is 8.50 chf apparently)

And apparently i got lucky, because if the import tax fee is above 5 chf, they charge you 75 chf extra for that, which i somehow didn’t get charged.

it’s really getting out of hand….

At some point companies will start doing what chinese companies do, and lie about value and contents.
