People who try to project a perfect human existence eventually break bad, if they already haven’t.
Finally the rock has comeback to
Not gonna lie… I’ve always like the rock and it’s not like I dislike him, he seems like a good person. But am I the only one that is just sick of seeing him try and shill product after product and company after company? I know that some of the stuff isn’t bad stuff, and often affordable, and he’s usually successful with it, but it comes off like he’s so incredibly money obsessed and tacky, and just trying to push brand after brand with no end. It’s like he’s trying to get a piece of every dollar you spend at the store or online. Tequila, energy drinks, shoes, apparel, voss water, production, investing (acorn), skin products, now shampoo. What’s next? The Rock Tampons? The Rock Cheesecake? The Rock HVAC system? Like it feels like he’s just trying to take everyone’s money in every category at this point and it’s just getting exhausting. Am I alone here?
I tried following him on IG a while back thinking it would be cool and funny posts.
Nope, it was just him advertising his tequila line. This doesn’t surprise me.
I’m sorry but that’s actually kind of hilarious.
This man is obsessed with power, fame, money… he is starting to rub me the wrong way
Wake up sheeple. Paul Newman hated salad.
It’s a whole mens care line, not just shampoo.
Told my wife to pick the best smelling body wash out in the store. Now I have some Rock “The Dwayne” Johnson body wash in my shower. I got admit, it smells pretty damn good tho.
Give the man some food stamps. He obviously needs some money
I don’t get the hate?
It’s actually hilarious, a bald man trying to sell shampoo
Did studios finally realize his movies don’t sell that well anymore? Now he’s selling shampoo and running back to the WWE? He works way too much, take a break bro your money isn’t drying up anytime soon.
future SNL skit fodder
Whose Line is it Anyway – Scenes from a Hat: Celebrity endorsements doomed to fail.
Colin Mochrie: “Hi, I’m Colin Mochrie and I’m here to talk to you about Rogaine”
It’s like if Trump sold bibles
Some celebrities are shamelessly tireless self promoters and endorsers who see no reason to slow down their output by any measure. Sofia Vergara, Jennifer Lopez, the Rock, The Game, Mark Wahlberg, etc a lot of celebrities purely use social media to promote their business interests. That’s all. The have no other need, desire or reason for social media other than to promote things that will generate income for them. Even the occasional seemingly benign non-promotional posts they make tend to be brand maintenance for their personal brands and brand related image- so, for instance, sometimes the Rock will post about his cheat meal days- but anything he posts is really about name dropping ingredient products he may or may not be paid to endorse and his own tequila brand.
There are a few others like this. But basically, for them, social media is truly just that- media. If you see them on TV on a show as a guest character or as themselves, doing an interview or a cameo or whatever, they’re promoting something that makes them money- I’m pretty sure the Rock had them place Teramana and other products of his in scenes in that Netflix movie Red Notice and j-Lo made Netflix do the same thing for her alcohol brand during the Mother press tour and red carpets and Sofia Vergara did this with her empanada brand and other products for her netflix film Griselda.
I think part of it is the immediate payoff, sure, but I think what they’re all trying to do is become the next Casamigos sale of $500 million or $1 billion or $1.5 billion or something. That’s what it’s all about. Bring in an extra few tens of millions now and set themselves up for a half billion or more windfall later.
It’s annoying, but I don’t blame them. We’re the ones watching their content and complaining later- just don’t engage in their content- unfollow them, skip them if they pop up in the algorithm, etc.
I’m amazed by how basic he comes off.
Dwayne will shill any product that throws enough money at him.
I wholeheartedly dislike this man, I really do. He slings bullshit products all day long, pretends like he doesn’t take PEDs, and acts like he’s the nicest guy on earth. I bet he’s an egomaniac behind closed doors.
You can tell Rock grew up in wrestling, he is natural-born, carny salesman. I say that as a 40 year old who has watched wrestling on and off for those 40 years and love it.
Next the Duggars will be selling their own brand of condom.
The rock, Ryan Reynolds and Kevin hart all give off this scummy shill vibe but always have a smile on their face as they sell you some bullshit.
Just another scum bag trying to cash in on their fans
One bottle will last me the rest of my life. – the rock.
Maybe he’s had too much of his own tequila.
Catch me not buying shampoo from a bald man after skipping the wine with rapper who doesn’t drink on it.
The shameless money grab would be funny if it weren’t another symptom of the disease killing this country.
The guy will peddle anything for a buck.
