Jessica Le Masurier reports on the UNSC adoption of Gaza ceasefire resolution • FRANCE 24 English

Well there was a round of applause in the council chamber as this ceasefire resolution was adopted it’s the first time that the UN Security Council has been able to agree on a ceasefire resolution for Gaza and the Slovenian Ambassador said that it finally showed that the Security Council is United for

Peace so this is being seen as progress it also shows quite how isolated Israel now is on the world’s stage because its Ally that has repeatedly blocked other resolutions in the council the United States abstained so 14 votes in favor and one exstension the US explained its exstension saying that well it was

Disappointed that uh this resolution did not condemn the Hamas attacks however it did choose to let the resolution pass and this is being seen as a victory for the United Nations security Council Jessica more on the Israeli reaction to this vote well Israel’s absolutely Furious uh Israel had tried to pressure the United

States into vetoing this resolution but it failed uh Netanyahu announced afterwards that uh a uh a delegation of Israelis who were supposed to go to Washington DC would cancel their visit and the Israeli Ambassador had strong words uh criticizing this resolution saying that he was disappointed that it

Did not even condemn Hamas he said the resolution just voted upon makes it seem as if the war started by itself he said that Israel did not start this war nor did Israel want this war so Jessica what happens now does this vote mean there will be a ceasefire in the Gaza

Strip that’s the hope but not necessarily because uh both Israel and Hamas have to agree to a Seas fire and the problem here will probably mainly be Israel Israel has been accused repeatedly of violating International humanitarian law and although this Security Council resolution is legally binding if Israel chooses not to respect

It then it’s going to be very hard to implement it that said the Secretary General has welcomed the adoption of this resolution and called for it to be implemented the same for other member states here at the United Nations uh and certainly the pressure will be on Israel

Now to implement it and it’s looking increasingly isolated on the world stage

  1. This is not a good look for the US, I'm sorry to say. It ends up looking like a moment of weakness, backpedaling on Israel because of public pressure stirred by by Iran's allies.

Netenyahu deserves some of the blame, however. A good leader doesn't have his most important ally turn on them.

Israeli people, do what you must.

  2. 5 and a half months Later (Really 75 years Later) 35 000 + Innocent Deaths including 15 000 + Children (really Hundreds of Thousands over 75 years) and supposedly the UN is United for 'Peace'!!

  3. The UN funded OCT attack obviously want cease fire and UN funding migrant transportation to EU and USA for their destruction. "New World Order" agenda of slavery to debt.

  4. The reporters seem very2 sad wt the un resolution n still harping on issue on condemning hamas…….all around the world against isreal…even US….abandon isreal but they still very2 starburn
