US Congress should just pass a bill allowing unlimited sales of arms to Ukraine. The EU can then provide the $200 billion in frozen Russian assets sitting in Belgian clearing houses as payment. Problem solved.
Debts can be wiped later, just like USSR ww2 loans for lend lease .. I would accept anything now as well
Disgusting behaviour on behalf of the Americans, but perhaps the frozen Russian assets can be used to pay off this loan. The 60 billion gap it would leave can be covered by the EU, as the US has proven to be an unreliable partner and we shouldn’t expect anything more of them
Ukraine has a choice. Get the EU to give another $60 Billion in aid.
Debt seems like it would be a wonderful problem to have.
If Ukraine is the only thing standing between us and war with Russia they should be given what they need right now. There will be an even higher price to pay if Ukraine loses.

I used to be all pro America. But the shit show in the last few months has taken me away into disappointment.
Get them the aid. Then once democrats have taken full control of all of congress pass a new law forgiving their debt.
They will just forgive the loan later, making a country that was not very well off before the war and now in shambles and will take many years to recover, is just pathetic! The Republicans should be ashamed!

The deal has a clause to be void so it would be in place until after the election is my guess and even if Biden loses-gasp-he could void it before he leaves office.
These scumbags have literally handstrung our entire economy over this as they still refuse to sign a real budget that would give DOD the leeway to supply more. The reason they are doing small supplemental is to chip away support for Biden and Ukraine. its insane and I will never forgive these traitorous jerks..

US loans are often forgiven.
Fast supply of weapons for loans was needed in the first weeks/months of the war. Now chronology it’s would look like this:
1. In the first months of the war, USA promised Lend Lease (loaning of required for Ukrainian victory USA weapon).
2. Instead of Lend Lease USA 2,5 years supplied to Ukraine weapons by “too little, too late” principle. With the only advantage – for free.
3. After 2,5 years of destruction of Ukrainian economy, and after EU+NATO countries bought Russian export at least on $450B, USA want to do the same “too little, too late” assistance (B60$ USA assistance for few years VS $110-150B per year Russian spendings), but in form of some business scheme.
4. On which Ukraine cannot not agree because USA/WMD-countries take away its alternative in the 1990s (and banned its creation), and now, also USA/WMD-countries (almost all other countries which directly or indirectly involved in war) simultaneously:
1. Didn’t give Ukraine enough conventional weapons because, despite International Law, and because of Russian hyperactive WMD-blackmail/racketeering, thinking that “WMD-countries cannot lose.”
2. Hindering to Ukraine creation of alternative, WMD, because “any form of WMD-proliferation it’s bad, and all non-WMD countries should believe in efficiency of International Law, as it did Ukraine in 1994-2024 years”…
The Americans are bloody loving this, literally only slighter better than Russians.
Give them a loan, unlimited but has to be spent on USA weapons.
Then just cancel the debt later.

Making it a loan does nothing for the United States in the end. Ukraine will never be able to pay back the loan, and if Russia wins, then it is a worthless loan. Russia will not pay that back. make it an outright action of support, you stupid Republicans

Well. Ukraine being in debt to US may have a positive side. US hoping to ever get the money back will be more interested in Ukraine’s survival.
USA betrayed Nato allies in Syria, in Afghanistan, with the Aukus agreement and now in leaving Ukraine on Its own in the middle of a war. Russia gets the message.
Maybe some pro-Ukraine billionaires can all get together and pitch in to wipe this debt in the future? That would be nice honestly.
a 0% interest loan also depreciates over time with inflation. Even if not outright canceled the payback is %s lower than the original value.
