Tove was no LGBQ-activist. During her lifetime she was in the closet as far as the general public knew.
Besides, she herself thought she was a painter first and author second. She didn’t consider herself a cartoonist either. She delegated the drawing of the Moomin strips to her brother.
She met with her lover through an attic passage connecting blocks before escaping to an island to be with her to keep it secret. Obviously given the times it made sense, but she certainly was no activist.
Is the misspelled name also intentional?
