  1. It will be for only the rich soon enough..just like everything else

  2. Won’t ever happen, not with current dominant ideologies around the world. Would require an absolute revolution.

  3. I don’t understand this… road fuels, HVAC and electricity are the heavy hitters. Aviation fuels are like 3% of the total, am I wrong?

  4. Driving and methane production would be a better low hanging fruit.

Flying is bad but Jesus methane is so easy to cap and manage. All industrials culprits. Slap them with massive fines and I get it would all but cease.

  5. Wasn’t there a noticeable climate effect when the no fly came in after 9/11?

  6. If you ration something, you are artificially restricting the supply. This will drive the price up until the market adjusts. So only the rich will fly.

  7. When COVID was raging, people in the UK on the left and right were screaming about how pubs were closed and how it was their *absolute right* to cough on other people in public during a pandemic. There’s absolutely zero chance of ever saying you can’t go on holiday.

  8. Taxes should be progressive based on flights per year, weighted for distance.

    100%, 250%, 500%, 1000%. Something like that.

    And ban private jets obvs.

I used to fly every month for work, but when I had to stop for health reasons, we quickly found workarounds with no real downside. I then got climate conscious and I haven’t flown since 2016.

  9. Good, I’m already doin my part.

    I’m too poor to fly.
