I’d like for all the cabinet to go through the process of being arrested, thrown in a cell, forced to say their final goodbyes, have them slowly march to their execution only to be let go at the last minute. Really fuck with their heads, it’s the least they deserve.
I’m a republican myself and think the trappings of royalty are anachronistic. However, stripping all the pageantry aside you’re left with an old woman who, we may be loathe to admit, is human like us. Wakes up, eats and shits like us. Has a dysfunctional family. Grieves her husband’s death.
So, while I don’t think Johnson’s ministry was any more or less insulting to the Queen than to any other family in the UK it just goes to show that the conservatives aren’t even paying lip service to the old notions of hierarchy. Its a brutal, power-fueled game of ‘fuck you got mine’ with the party at the top. No noblesse oblige, no in-this-together. Just eat shit you fucking peons and pay taxes for the privilege.
