  7. I wouldn’t go as far as to say that but it’ll definitely be the death of the alliances that the west had made around the globe. (Japan, SK, Philippines, Morocco..etc)

    Western countries would be viewed as a bunch of an unreliable security partners even compared to the likes Russia and co.

    So it would be bad for the west but definitely not a “western civilization ending” action to make.

    That being said, I hope they rein Israel in a little bit and make them stop bombing everything that moves. (Like providing them with half of the ammunition package than a full one..etc etc)

Abandoning Israel will give a sign to all the countries in the Middle East that western support is useless and unstable even against the most vile and evil enemies. Why would countries like Saudia or UAE seek relationships with the west if it can’t even provide the minimum?

  12. The big issue is that if Israel are ever found to have committed war crimes, then as a knowing arms supplier, the United Kingdom will be liable as well. This is why civil servants have already been [requesting to stop work](https://news.sky.com/story/civil-servants-threaten-to-stop-work-over-arms-sales-to-israel-13107895), in case they get ruled as being complicit, and thus liable themselves. The debate about arms sales is more about the UK covering its own arse than anything else, which isn’t entirely unreasonable.

    One of the big issues right now is that the UK government has [supposedly received legal advice](https://www.theguardian.com/world/2024/mar/30/uk-government-lawyers-say-israel-is-breaking-international-law-claims-top-tory-in-leaked-recording) about this subject, but hasn’t made these results public, with some suspecting a cover-up.

    Of course, I shouldn’t expect the former Prime Minister who illegally prorogued parliament, repeatedly breached lockdown restrictions that he himself set, and was found to have deliberately misled parliament, to care about the rule of law. Reminder that because he deliberately lied and misled parliament, he was stripped of his parliamentary pass, so unlike most other former MPs, he is not allowed to access parliamentary buildings.
