    Maybe it went something like this:

    Select a small European country,with a population that can be easily influenced with anti west propaganda.

    Have your troll factories focus on the country in question and make deals with populist to have him elected.

    Benefit from a country that can veto European actions to support Ukraine.

    Is there any evidence of Russian mingling in the election?
