I just wanted to drop in and thank the advice I received from you guys
here at r/germany. I followed your advice and easily mounted the first
light of 6. Everything you suggested worked great. I could locate the
rebar/electrical lines, and the drill/drillbits recommended cutting
through the concrete like "butter," just like you said. Thank you,
r/germany, for saving the day for me. Here are the pictures of the
first light I mounted and the tools recommended by you all. Now I only
have 5 more to go.
This was in the downstairs bathroom. The others are in the two
downstairs bedrooms and the utility room. The first and second-floor
light fixtures are all wood, but now that I have the
wire/rebar/stud/water/schnitzel detector, I can drill with a little
more confidence about what's behind those ceilings/walls. I have a 18v
Bosch Cordless (the one I originally tried to use to mount this light
in the basement) that I'm pretty sure will do the job on those, but if
I run into any issues, I know where to come for great advice.
Thank you all again!

Glad you did it yourself. Far too many people in this sub think only a professional can do such a thing. If you stay here longer that drill will see a lot of use.
now get a shovel and dig a hole on a beach. you can also use the bosch as pretend machinegun and defend your hole like its dday
good job, it’s a one time investment, but it will serve you well with each move to a different apartment.
I’ve even bought a screwdriver bit adapter, in case i need to turn something heavy, but so far there was no need, as the Device is to heavy
I can’t get over the fact that you went for a decent, rather budget-friendly drill and then spent like triple the money for a radar-based wall scanner. Great tool, no doubt there, but still a bit funny.
Edit: And of course: Kudos for learning, getting the tools and doing it yourself!
Wasn’t the “scanner” a bit too expensive 😄 but good that everything worked out!
