Ustaša Miško Ratković from Trilj in Dalmatia (Croatia), with an unknown Ustaša, covered in the blood of their victims, 1941. From the collection of the Museum of Yugoslavia (collection of the Museum of the Revolution of the Peoples of Yugoslavia, inventory number 11596).
Throat cutting contest of Serbs.
There were throat-cutting contests of Serbs, in which prison guards made bets among themselves as to who could slaughter the most inmates. It was reported that **guard and former Franciscan priest Petar Brzica won a contest on 29 August 1942 after cutting the throats of 1,360 inmates**.

We really hit rock bottom as humans around 1940s huh
Everybody was a victim of somebody in the Balkans at some point.
If you think the Nazi’s were bad, in the Balkan it was just as bad or even worse.
If you’re interested and have a strong stomach search for Jasenovac on YouTube.

“What Ustaše did in the 40s was exagerated. Ustaše were systematically killed after war. History was written by winners and it was written to make Ustaše look bad.”
All real things that I have heard someone say just recently when I went to visit Croatia for Ester. They got very upset at me when I said I don’t like when people kill people.
I can’t with this people. We will learn nothing from history.
This is scary. I am from Croatia and walls are still filled with “kill serbs” graffiti. I hate this country.
It kind of feels wrong bringing up auch pictures and storys. Who else gets cramps of anger in the stomage? I feel like we should concentrate on the good things in life

The man who lives in the hill on the other side of this valley is a demon. But somehow he farms and grinds wheat just like a man. What a shame.
But what happened to his arm?
Is this pro-serbian propaganda?
Is it my turn to repost it?
Croatians despise this era and recognise it as the biggest betrayal in history. NDH puppet regime gave most of Istria and Dalmatia regions to Italy and started running concentration camps in Jasenovac and Stara Gradiška. The government with mr. Maček that was elected by the croatian people refused to take part in this. Partisans were formed in Sisak and forced nazi/fascist scum all the way to Trieste lead by an croatian called Josip Broz. This picture is mostly shared and posted around by brainwashed individuals from all sides that can’t learn from history and learn to move on. Why dont you post something about an ongoing crisis that needs attending too? Gotta keep that generational hate thriving dont we?
What a frightening picture. Talk about psycho.
Most of Dalmatia was occupied by fascists.

People dont understand that no one in Croatia wanted to be a nazi puppet, Ustashe were so unknown when they came to power, people were asking on the streets who even are they, and when people learned of their agenda most stopped supporting them (not that anyone supported them initially anyway, they just supported idea of independent state after almost 1000 years of oppression)
Anyone actually popular in Croatia turned down positions in the government that was supposed to be a puppet to nazis, Ustashe were already exiled prior and unpopular in Croatia itself for their radical ideas. I feel like people often dont realize how many Croatians actually joined Yugoslav partisans, we practically liberated ourselves, just like Serbs in Serbia.
Tito was right about his treatment of ustasas
Were they executed by tito’s communist partisans?
Reavers
50 years later, their children and grand children would do it again!
People like that are psychopaths, and you can find them in every nation in the world. More than 95% of the populations of Croats, Serbs, Bosnians, and Albanians are normal people. The problem is that in wars, those 5% of the worst get to power, and they commit atrocities. In times of peace, individuals like this would quickly end up in prisons, but in wars, they are free to go rampant.
Let’s remember never to blame the whole nation and to blame and punish those individuals who were responsible.
I want to see people continuing to live in peace on the Balkans in the 21st century, and I hope that in 50-100 years, we will be like the countries of Benelux or Scandinavia, and that all of this will just be ancient history.
