  2. As much as I despise Trump… Ukraine is never getting Crimea or the Donbas back. The sooner they accept that, the fewer people have to die.

  4. People here are so propagandized that this probably seems absurd but is really quite reasonable and might even be workable… but this would have been easier on Ukraine of they would have negotiated with momentum, instead y’all called everyone talking about peace talks pro-Putin.

    When you’re begging for ammo that’s not a good time to negotiate… buy that’s done now and it’s unlikely Ukraine will regain that initiative. It’ll be a worse deal this year than last, but it’ll be an even worse deal next year.

    Ukraine needs to negotiate, hardlining is gonna be ruinous if those lines break or something snaps

  6. Well, Tump is an A-hole. But in the end, I’m afraid this is what this will boil down to as long as Putin is in power. Ukraine does not seem able to gain significant ground, and Russia does not seem able to gain significant ground. It’s a standstill. Both countries can not keep this up, the West can not keep this up, Russia’s few friends can not keep this up. The only trouble with Trump’s idea is that he assumes he can trust Putin.

    The only real solution would be for someone in Moscow to kill Putin, take over, and end the war by retreating completely. And how likely is that scenario?

  7. It’s a weird strategy from Trump, which you would think would be a problem for him with traditional donors and supporters.

    People talk about billions of $$$ going to Ukraine, but the reality is that all this kit is being replaced with billions of $$$ going to American military factories and upgrading the American war machine.

    It seems odd for a candidate to be running on a less money for the American arms industry ticket, while also making himself look like Putin’s lapdog.

    It shows how strong Putin’s psyops have been on so many Americans think this is even possible as a notion, let alone one that he might win on.

  16. Well right now there is no US support so what is he going to pressure Ukraine with? Lol
    Europe have 20 times the GDP of Russia, what matters is not what the US decides, but what the big countries in Europe decide. If eg France, Italy, Spain supported like the Nordic and Baltic countries, Russia would be kicked permanently in 2 years time.
    Europe can not rely on Trump anyway. It shifts like the wind. So better take action and make the move.

  24. That cant be a solution. Putin can hardly get away without kiew regime change and demilitarization as he has been talking so much about it.
    The other solution would be some parts to russia and ukraine in NATO with big military spending. For Putin inacceptable.

    Also Putin cant take kiew. Even Trump would prevent that.

    The only end to this conflict is Putins end. No other way. It will continue until that day.

  32. I’d much prefer that we continue to send support to Ukraine, but if it’s between Ukraine not existing anymore and Ukraine losing Dunbas, I’d rather they continue to exist. However, if there is a chance to expel Russia, then the US should continue to support them.

  34. Well that is what will happen either way. Ukraine will never take back those territories and a Korean style armistice is probably the best they can hope at now. Out of men and out of weapons while Russia outproduces all of nato combined. There is only one way this will end sadly.

  37. Quite a position: achieve a loss by ceding to the opposing party to call it a victory.

  39. Won’t work. Russia claims more than those teritories and won’t relinquish those claims. They also won’t accept a Ukraine with any military capable of defending if Russia decides to attack again, so proposing this “peace” is in reality asking Ukraine to surrender and be attacked in the near future. Might as well keep fighting.

  40. The only time there was peace when Russia was weak in the nineties.
