I was recently exploring Fort St Elmo and whilst I was at the top of the fort I looked down upon these buildings. Obviously they look abandoned and from what I have read they have been empty since around 2008 when the fort was restored.
I have scoured the internet and came find no mention of them whatsoever, nor does the museum mention them. I assume they are some former barracks accommodation which was disused when the British left the fort.
Can anyone spread some information about them? It is such a shame to see these waste away.
I am also aware that part of James Bond was filmed there.
Thanks

I may be wrong, but was Midnight Express also filmed there?
Lower former St Elmo. Previously served as a barracks. Last time by the KOMR. Used as a back drop for the 1970s film Midnight Express which won, if not mistaken, several Oscars. I am proud to be Maltese but the state of such historical buildings make me cry.
Barracks I think. Is now often used by the movie industry . Most of ‘Midnight express’ was filmed in Malta and if I remember correctly this was used as a prison .
