Tear down any racist or National Party posters. There was 3 in my area. Some sound citizen got to the one at the bus stop. Both painted over

  1. They got a reaction out of you, enough for you to post on social media, so I’d say they accomplished their goal. You get to feel better about yourself so you accomplished yours too. Everyone wins.

  2. How much of the National party nonsense is actually being funded by “outside parties” (eg Russia)?

  3. You’ve amplified their reach more with this post than that poster could’ve.

  4. Its interesting if this was a campiagn poster, defacing it would technically be illegal and destruction of property. Its best to ignore them

  5. Imagine in 1845 if the posters said in Ellis island said “HOUSE THE AMERICANS NOT THE IRISH”.

  6. How about “House the ones here first” I mean, go to any hospital, most of the workers there aren’t irish. They shouldn’t be housed? The ones making your food shouldn’t be housed? They work hard and keep your country running, pay taxes, but sure. House others first. The ones who sit on their ass and avoid work as hard as possible, because the government pays them anyway. Look after them because they’re Irish, before we House those Philippino nurses in the A&E and ICU.

Also how many Irish people are looking to the states and aus for actually decent housing and pay? Should they not be housed where they are because they aren’t from there?

    How actually blatantly stupid.

(Obviously this rant is at the posterer, not OP).

  7. I prefer to keep my vandalism on the down low. It’s best if nobody knows it was you 👀 what? I didn’t say anything.

  8. For hundreds of years we were the economic migrants to the rest of the world. And out influence wasn’t always benign .

But we should be aware that as a rich nation we should do what we can to help others .
Obviously there needs to be so criteria for entry but otherwise we should be empathetic for those less fortunate.

  9. Spread their message to show how against it you are, arent ya great

  10. Price of paint these days ya must be mad, could’ve got a dozen highs out of that

  11. Not a bad message. If we want people to be able to buy homes we have to cut immigration. You can’t say our current regime is helping Irish people buy a house

  12. Well, when the Irish went elsewhere and were met with this kind of xenophobia it was considered shameful. Yet, we forget! We are better than this.

  13. The National Party are a known racist scumbag party

  14. It’s a grey area that’s being used as a wedge to divide people sadly. I have no problem at all with immigration and people fleeing war torn countries for safety, but we do have a serious housing problem.

Unfortunately because of the state of the world, it’s very hard to talk about how something needs to be done about the state of housing because it sounds like you’re agreeing with the racists pieces of shit who are using the housing problems as their veil to be racists pieces of shit.

  15. Is it racist to want the government to help our own by providing housing and doing something about the homelessness throughout the country.

I’m all up for helping people but spending millions when our own are facing such issues doesn’t seem right.

  16. Or like sort the housing situation out and all the dodgy crap with big corporations buying all the housing estates and making them inaffordable??

  17. What’s the legality of taking them down? Either national party or anti immigrant posters. Are they protected or are you legally allowed to take them down. Anti immigrant protest at coolock have their signs on Dublin bus stop etc

  18. Tearing down a view you don’t agree with. Great job OP! Would you be as mad or madder if someone took down a poster you agreed with?

  19. *House SOME Irish.

Sadly that’s what we would get even with zero immigration. It is not that the poster is racist (it is not really, maybe a bit chauvinist). The issue is that the poster is STUPID.

The average immigrant is more likely to be a construction worker than the average Irish. We do not have the capacity for the current population and even if we did the buildings deteriorate over time. The need for construction worker would still exist. We are simply understaffed. If anything we should stop importing software engineers and focus on trades and medics.

  20. I love destroying/taking down right wing stickers and posters. I’ve made it almost into a game, I have a whole scrapbook full of stuff I’ve taken down/destroyed. I recommend it, not only is it fun, it’s also an archival method so we can teach others what to look out for and destroy

  21. We should house our own first. We don’t have enough room for the world.

  22. Certainly not an unreasonable statement in a vacuum, but made a bit troubling coming from folks like the National Party.

I’ve always wondered what would happen if Ireland had a reasonably well-put together right wing party. I feel like they’d run riot if they had more substance than “gosh-darn forenirs!”.
