    Several hundred Manhattan residents were recently sent notices to appear at the borough’s criminal court on April 15. Whether they know it or not, they’re under consideration to be jurors in perhaps the most high-profile criminal trial in U.S. history.

  8. It’s been a long time but I think it was Ambrose Bierce who defined a jury of one’s peers as “12 people who have been downgraded to homicidal maniac.

    I’m sure I’m misremembering the source and/or the quote (the latter to be sure), but it is someone with a sense of humor like Bierce. Twain maybe. It’s been a long time.

  9. I just find it ludicrous that 🍑🍑 still denies he had sex with her. He expects us to believe he paid her $130K to keep her quiet about … *not* having sex with him? Gee, I haven’t had sex with 🍑🍑 either, can I have a hundred thirty thousand dollars?

  10. While I am hoping this trial does start on time, there is a serious down-side risk if he is acquitted or there is a mistrial. Given the incompetence of Trump’s lawyers and the apparent strength of the case, I’m hoping for the best.

    Given the chance some cult member is on the jury or there is jury or witness tampering, I’m preparing for the worst.

  13. What a terrifying and extraordinary responsibility twelve of these 500 citizens will be called to. The chance to deliver justice to a man who is trying to destroy this country and democracy with it. To defend liberty and the rule of law in their hour of maximum peril, or shrink from the moment and let a guilty man walk.

  24. As many as the courthouse can hold should be required to show up at court every day for the trial to make it as hard as possible for Trump zealots to figure out which ones are the actual jurors.

    Edit: As we read these posts and comments, can we keep in mind the new emphasis we’re seeing on the existence of thousands of Russian trolls passing themselves off as Americans on social media and working very hard to sow division among Americans? Even the guy commenting in agreement with your view may be one of them, seeking to harden your position and deepen your hatred of the other side. Speaking with moderation and keeping our rage under control is probably the most effective weapon against them.
