320 acres, urban mass? I don’t even need to look at the proposal to know when the NIMBYS are out.
Oh no, an urban mass of ideal town! How awful!
I’m the first to hate on the monarchy but I fail to see the issue here.
It will probably do some good to chaversham! Honestly, we have a housing crisis and as much as I don’t like spoiling the countryside people have to live somewhere. If we have any hope of brining house prices down then more housing desperately needs to be built.
Just looking at the existing housing stock there Vs his proposal makes it look a no brainer. It’s a vast improvement
Are the nimbies private wannabe developers perhaps?
If it’s anything like Poundbury then it’ll actually be nice compared with an identikit Redrow housing estate.
Anyone that complains about building good quality homes with access to local services can fuckity fuck right off.
The biggest thing holding the country back is the lack of housing and the cunts that block it.
Any development with at least half an eye on benefit to the residents rather than the developer’s bank balance is good in my book. It’s kinda topsy-turvy that a service once driven by local councils now comes from his maj, but it’s a topsy-turvy world I guess.
>There will be “affordable homes designed and built to the same high-quality standards, indistinguishable from market homes”, the development website says.
Oh no, nice, affordable homes which will help with the housing crisis! How terrible.
Anyway…
How do we lock NIMBYs out of planning commissions? It’s killing Britain.
The word ‘fury’ has become so diluted by being used to precede any kind of headline.
I would find this kind of complaint a lot more sympathetic if faversham wasn’t already surrounded by faceless new-build housing estates. At least these proposals include some level of masterplan other than “200 of the same house with a curvy road running through it”.
NIMBY behaviour is everywhere in this country. I personally wouldn’t care if someone built some more houses near my house. if they were very nice looking houses then that would surely boost my house value and also be nice to go and see. I really don’t see the issue.
Compared to the hundreds of housing estates popping up in really inappropriate areas this one actually seems nicely thought out and rather pleasant
‘We have a massive housing shortage that’s killing the country!’
King – ‘I’d like to build some houses with some amenities to go with them’
‘… >:(‘
If the NIMBY’s in Faversham don’t want it then HRH should consider bulldozing Ashford to put it there.
From memory the last place he built with an architect is stunning, if not slightly upmarket. Amazing. Non the less.
Nimbys are destroying this country and acting smug as they do it. I saw a local news post about a scrap of brownfield land having two houses proposed for it. People started referring to this patch of concrete covered ib weeds as “critical urban green space”.
The law needs to be changed to ignore them asap
NIMBY NIMBY NIMBY NIMBY /
Oooooooooooooooooh
-Kaiser Chiefs, probably.
This is very sad, I genuinely think the king has real passion when it comes to this sort of stuff.
The last town that I can remember being built was milton Keynes and no one wants to live there. London can only build up and renting/owning a new build apartment is just as expensive, if not more expensive than renting/buying a house. We need new villages/towns desperately!
Honestly what are they on about. He is the most sensitive property developer in the UK by far.
In this country everyone who owns a house (50% of adults) doesn’t want more to be built because it devalues theirs. So they’ll kick off about any new houses being built anywhere.
This is what councils SHOULD be doing, building new developments where the focus is not on squeezing as much money as possible. Doing house developments right especially by a council who own land already still leaves plenty of money on the table and improves society.
We have a Charlie Town here in Cornwall called Nansledan. It has basically swallowed up all of the countryside between Newquay and Quintrel Downs. However, needs must.
Oh no more houses , something we definitely don’t need
All those angry about this must be publicly shamed and have their passports revoked for this kind of treason.
There are quite a few issues with Poundbury. Its completely dominated by cars for one, and really leans into a rather picture-perfect view of an English village for my taste. But compared the the average identikit housing development its brilliant.
Naturally, people are going to oppose any kind of development because it might affect their eyeline, and they don’t want to see any kind of change at all. And when you ask them what the solution to the housing problem is, its to build homes anywhere else because building homes here is “not right” as “it could affect the local roads.” And they should be routinely ignored.
