  6. He is absolutely the person responsible for it (though there is lots of blame to go around). This is why I hate it when people do the “he doesn’t even care about xyz issue” dodge, as if it matters that he truly cares. You see it brought up around abortion and LGBTQ issues a lot. Someone will say something to the effect of “don’t worry, the Republicans care but he doesn’t even care about this stuff,” but he is the Republicans and the Republicans are him. He may have paid for dozens of abortions in his life, but did it make any difference at all when the Republicans wanted it gone? He may have held up a rainbow flag (upside down) once and might not personally have as strong of opinions about LGBTQ people as the other Republicans (I’m honestly not even sure that’s true, but people seem to think it) but that hasn’t stopped him from saying gender affirming care causes mass shootings and complaining that trans folks killed Easter. It won’t stop anything when the Republicans want to brand every queer person as a pedophile and then mandate the death penalty for pedophiles.

    It’s absolutely head in the sand silly to think becuase something isn’t his main interest that he will somehow get in the way of it or limit it. Where he doesn’t care about something , the Republicans drag him there, where they don’t care about something he does, he drags them there. It’s all the worst shit, not Republicans trying to lobby him for their traditional culture war shit and him shrugging them off.

    Abortion is the issue that has sunk them post turnover. This may excite the base but it will cost them independents and a lot of women.

  15. Here is a campaign message I think would be simple and effective around this issue. It would be a great ad following a clip or two of Trump proudly claiming credit for ending Roe.

    “Don’t let Trump grab YOU by the p*ssy. Elect Joe Biden and Democrats. Protect your right to choose.”

  40. I don’t understand how this is up for debate. He said he’d appoint anti-Roe judges, he did appoint anti-Roe judges, and then the anti-Roe judges overturned Roe. trump is anti abortion.   43. The political ads will now write themselves. The abortion albatross has buried them in every national-level election since this was overturned. And Trump has now doubled down and will seal his fate as the guy who orchestrated it in the national conversation.
