Bottle deposit scheme criticised for excluding glass containers

  1. Are glass bottles not taken care of at bottle banks?

LIDL run a succesful deposit return scheme in a few of their stores so would make sense to engage them in any plans for a nationwide rollout

  2. I mean, lets not let the perfect get in the way of the good. 99.99999% of bottle related litter is plastic

  3. I’m confused by these plans. From my understanding prices for anything in a plastic or aluminium can will increase by 20c regardless of their size? That’s a pretty big increase for things like cans of coke or supermarket own brand drinks etc.
Also what about the green bin, those of us who already recycle will still have to pay extra but will lose the deposit if we use the green bin? Won’t this just piss off those of us who already recycle?

  4. So how does something like this work? Will the shop take back your bottles and take the price off your shopping or will you have to drive somewhere yourself to get your money back? I read the article but it didn’t really explain how it will work
