Germany will hand over 10,000 artillery shells to Ukraine. They will come from the stocks of the Bundeswehr.
This was stated in an interview with DW by the head of the Situation Center of Ukraine under the Ministry of Defense of Germany, General Christian Freuding.
Germany decided to supply ammunition to Ukraine in three stages. A shipment of 10,000 rounds of ammunition, which will arrive soon, is the first step in this plan.
The second stage provides support for the Czech Republicʼs initiative to purchase ammunition outside of Europe. Germany financed 180,000 shells within the framework of this program, which Ukraine will receive in the second half of 2024.
The third stage concerns Germanyʼs bilateral agreement with a third country to supply Ukraine with another 100,000 projectiles from about the fourth quarter.
It’s for 1 day ! What a joke! Better to be quite about it
Genuine question. How long will that sustain Ukraine? Surely this is a few days worth at most? Does anyone have any numbers?
Wow! A whole day’s worth of artillery! 🤔
This would have been two days of supply if Ukraine were unworried about firing. At most, five days of ammo at prudent rates of expenditure.
Edit: I’m not slamming Germany per se, but the overall Western approach is that a gaggle of countries with 10x Russia’s GDP make no noises along the lines of “Our plan is to deliver shells at twice the rate of Russia.”
It’s not enough and too slow. This is all embarrassing for us Europeans frankly
this is old news and was announced 1-2 weeks ago. The shells are mostly already fired.
for people bad and comprehension: The 10000 were to deliver stocks within days, probably to plug immediate gaps in supply
Everything else is what takes time and cannot be conjured up with magic.
A few days worth…
People knocking this, it’s better than nothing and hopefully it’s a start. If more countries gave 10k here and there Ukraine at least could hold out longer.
I’m hoping production is ramping up but worried we are way too slow…
Well, that shit in your warehouses is not getting better with time like the wine, so it’s best if you pass it to Ukraine (those 10.000 and the rest). Do not worry about the dust, it will come off when flying.
I mean, good news for Ukraine, but Germany really has to have a plan to not completely deplete its own stocks
Needs to be more!
Can someone explain why the logistics takes so long? I realize this isn’t like ordering a book from Amazon Prime, but North Korea was sure able to get rockets into Russia without delay, not to mention the shahed drones from Iran. What is it about Western support that’s so unbelievably slow?
Edit:
Not including the US. Obviously I know the orange reason there.
yet again great job germany, unfortunately there are still people who expects somehow even more from them and will downplay any help given as not enough or not soon enough.
This has inspired me to give a homeless person a single penny today.
