  1. Maybe now he can return to the one that got away, Zoot, Handmaiden of the Castle Anthrax

  2. Reading this makes me want to watch his travel documentaries again.

  3. The story of how Michael Palin and his wife got together is actually very sweet:

They met when their families were holidaying in neighbouring properties when she was 15 and he was 16, and Palin fell for her but wasn’t able to keep in touch.

Then a few years later, a friend at university asked him if he’d go on a double date with a woman he hadn’t yet met. Michael agreed and Michael’s date was the same girl he’d fallen head over heels for on that holiday.

  4. All my sympathy, Mr. Palin.

It’s hard enough figuring out your life after living with someone for just a year or two, I cannot imagine 57 years and sudden silence.

  5. Palin always stood out to me as being joyous amongst all the pythons. He’ll be in my thoughts today!

  6. 57 years…. wow. That’s love. I’ve been married 4 times.

    RIEP, Helen.

  7. I’m gonna be holding my wife real tight tonight after reading this.
