  1. According to the Turkish journalists, Israeli senior officials complained to the United States about Turkey following the trade restriction decision. Israeli officials urged the United States to impose economic sanctions on Turkey.

  2. Fantastic , again more PR, but at least another nudge against Israel’s continued policy of ethnic cleansing

  3. Turkey huh? I didn’t expect them to pose sanctions. To be frank I’m surprised Israel has received so few international sanctions thus far.

  4. Didn’t Hamas reject the latest ceasefire offers and doesn’t Turkey shelter Hamas officials?

  5. Until a ceasefire? They literally offer a ceasefire Hamas keeps rejecting, what they want Israel to do?

  6. This is PR for local support. They’ll lift the sanctions quietly in a few months.

  7. Good. Don’t fund lunatics. Expect lots of whataboutism from this sub. Remember “Muslim=Bad” from this sub.

  8. As others have written, this changes nothing. Turkey under Erdogan has always been a machine of bluster when it comes to Israel. In a sense a good thing, if even under him relations with Israel are never fully cut, all the less likely under a successor.

I am pretty sure behind the scenes there was counsel on whethere any of these restrictions hurt the Turkish economy.

  9. Opposition used trade-ties with Israel very heavily in their propaganda. This is because Erdogan’s rhetoric and actions were completely different, as the firms trading with Israel are close to the government and Turkey was Israel’s 4th biggest trade partner before this ruling.

Turkey was primarily providing Israel with construction equipment needed to build nets around Gaza and to build their settlements, alongside shells.

Erdogan public support for Palestine was complete bullshit.

  10. Not surprising. Erdogan lost ground to an Islamist party specifically because he refused to do this.

  11. I wonder if Israel will recognize the armenian genocide as a retaliation measure

  12. Retalliation for not allowing Turkey to get a PR win and air drop aid in Gaza.

  13. This only happened because the ruling party was really loud when it came to criticizing Israel but was taking no actions on the ground. This was used against them in the local elections, so here is the result.

  14. Will be fun to walk that back, since Hamas has rejected the latest cease fire.

  15. That was the one of reasons, the government lost last elections. A lot of conservative votes flied over their alternative

  16. Because Erdoğan began to loose Islamist support rapidly in Turkiye. This sanction step was made to persuade internal potential. Otherwise a different party comes to destroy Erdogan’s structure (yeniden refah).

  17. Not the ones his son is trading and filling his bank account with from Israel of course.

Mr watermelon seller making sure him and his family eat meat every night while hardworking Turks can’t afford it.

The last time Donald Trump set Aluminum and Steel tariffs on Turkey the lira lost 25% of its value. The White House has threatened in a letter to Erdogan that they can destroy the Turkish economy if necessary.

Turkeys headed for an Iran rial day of say ~30% devaluation. Just threats of Israel asking for sanctions on Turkey alone will crash the lira and calm foreign investment.

Erdogan sacrificing his people for his own ego.

Dude can’t stop pretending to be a Muslim even while he sends back Uyghurs that are trying to flee from putting put in a Chinese camp.

  18. Why didn’t they do it BEFORE losing 10 cities in local elections to CHP is beyond me.

And why do it now? There aren’t any elections in Turkey for like 4 years

  19. I don’t mind this. Even if the Turkish government didn’t do this, at least Turkey isn’t giving billions of dollars in free money to Israel.
