What is the idea behind the ages not being the same? How is that fair?
You could have painted the map with three colours to make clear who retires first in the not equal countries.
to note that Ukraine,Hungary and Slovenia equalized the retirement age within the last decade
so the East/West divide paradigm still largely fits to the situation of retirement age
those good old conservative masculine values, men having to work for longer despite living much less than women ( in Russia,Ukraine,Lithuania, the gender gap in life expectancy being close to 10 years)
Good societies for men, not like those feminist westerner countries with their gender equality /s
In Austria, they even changed the constitution to keep discrimination of men and take them the possibility to challenge this at the constitutional court.
For me it’s totally incomprehensible how this can be tolerated in a modern country.
On 1.1.2030. Croatia will equalize retirement age for men and women. Every year the retirement for women is getting closer to mens. But it can’t be done so fast.
I didn‘t even know that different ages are a thing.
So do men get paid less in green or do they retire the same time with women?
That feels really discrimatory
Ah yes, the Russia to Switzerland sexism pipeline
Not true in France. Women gain years by having children. Not so many, but that count.
Fake. In Italy It Is also NO (search Opzione Donna on Google)
What is crazy is, in the UK the state pension age was different for men and women. A old man can have sex change therapy and then claim a rebate to get all the extra years of pension he would have got if he was a woman before they changed the rules.
So if your struggling with money and your old, transition for a big cheque
Hungary should be No, because it”s not equal.
Austria has equal retirement age at 65 for all women born after 1967. The information above is outdated.
the fuck?
False for Italy.
Hungary should be red, since there is a program where you can retire after 40 years of work if you are a woman
Look it’s the Old Soviet block
Germany and Italy are also not equal. Women there retire earlier than men.
Other comments point out other inaccuracies as well.
Also, there are caveats.
In Turkey, although women can retire earlier than men on paper, there are a number of criteria that determines an individual’s actual retirement age. These criteria include when they first started working, how much they’ve paid into the system, what job they worked, whether they have gained a disability etc.
So in practice men can retire earlier than women and vice versa. It depends.
Not very well researched, bad map with bad information with an ulterior agenda based on OP’s comments.
So, nope.
In Italy it’s not the same.
The most common colour blindness: Red – green
This mf:
Its only been equalised in the UK in the last few years. Before that it was 60 for women and 65 for men.
The changes to the law were announced in 1995 and very widely advertised to start coming into effect twenty years later. Still people complained that somehow it was unfair on them and they hadnt had enough warning.
In eastern Europe, men live 68, women 77.
Lets say retirement age is equal at 65.
So men get pension for 3 years, women for 12 years.
If you want to be equal and fair, shouldn’t men pay 4 times less for pension through their life?
It kinda looks like men subsidize women pension if you think about it.
Whole Europe has a 6 year gap from 75 to 81, so with the same retirement age of 65, men get 10 years pension, women 16 years of pension, which is still significantly more. If they will push retirement age upwards which they are trying to do, the difference will become even bigger.
Pro-European Poles always raise the argument “and in the West this and that is legal, Poland is a backward country” when there is an issue of morality.
The same Poles in our government:
An equal retirement age as in Western Europe? Why should we equalise the retirement age for men and women?
Well men die younger so I guess we should work longer too /s
