Planners have specifically chained the bike and train as one seamless mobility option: quick, convenient, affordable door-to-door travel used by hundreds of thousands each day.
Judging by how full they are, it’s not enough.
Netherlands are a country on steroids, I have been there multiple times and that country is just so on a different level than the rest of us, especially when it comes to infrastructure, natural beauty in the cities and overall feel of the towns.
And yet I still struggle to find a space
How do people put bikes on the upper levels of those racks? Unless they somehow gain 2 meters in height.
And to make it clear: This is not just one station we are talking about (this one seems to be Rotterdam CS). The large ones I know about: Delft, The Hague CS, Amsterdam CS and Utrecht CS. I’m pretty sure there are more large ones across the rest of the country.
EDIT: Thought the third one was R’dam CS. Guess I’m wrong about this being R’dam CS. In my defense: They do all look reasonably alike 😉
Now imagine if each of those bikes were a car.
eeeew… creepy. so much virtue. I don’t trust virtuous people.
The Dutch train system is amazing in every way except for HOW FUCKING EXPENSIVE IT IS. A monthly pass for costs around 350EUR! A monthly pass between Utrecht and Amsterdam costs 220EUR, that’s a 20 minute trip! That alone nullifies every other nice part of the system.
You mean Dutch bike parking places have train stations attached 🇳🇱🦁🔥
You haven’t known struggle until you’ve forgotten where you parked your bike in one of these 😂
And rightfully so. The Netherlands are notoriously bike-friendly.
Just imagine how much space you’d need to do this with cars
You guys are lucky living in such a flat country.
Spectacular.
How do the Dutch carry their luggage on a bicycle?
I wish we would do this in Paris. Holland is the best for cycling!!
