  1. It looks like OP posted an AMP link. These should load faster, but AMP is controversial because of [concerns over privacy and the Open Web](https://www.reddit.com/r/AmputatorBot/comments/ehrq3z/why_did_i_build_amputatorbot).

Maybe check out **the canonical page** instead: **[https://www.cbsnews.com/news/tax-irs-income-taxes-who-pays-the-most-and-least/](https://www.cbsnews.com/news/tax-irs-income-taxes-who-pays-the-most-and-least/)**

  2. What is the point of comparing only one tax? Write a useful article comparing the total tax burden. Starting with the smallest municipality. Then write an article on the cost of living so it means something.

  3. One of my pet peeves is the low IQ right wingers who say that most Americans don’t pay any taxes. It’s a low IQ interpretation of smarter right wingers lying with data. The grifter right wingers specifically say “half of people don’t pay *federal income taxes*”.

Three main issues with this argument:

    1. It ignores a majority of taxes in the US
    2. Doesn’t take into account inequality in the distribution of income
    3. Skewed by our use of tax credits instead of welfare

  4. I dispute, as I always do, that what Americans mean when they say “taxes” is, in fact, *income* taxes. 7.65% of your payroll taxes are for Medicare and Social Security, and are different line-items from Federal Withholding. My federal income tax rate is right around 11%. Broadly speaking, I get much more from the 11% than I do from the 7.65%, and I would happily pay the extra ~1.35% to make the total an even 20% and have universal healthcare.

  5. Making 36k a year and owint almost 9k in taxes should be fucking criminal. We overthrew the god damn first government due to taxes and I don’t expect it’ll be anything different the 2nd go around
