TL;DR – Allies sold Czechoslovakian border regions to Hitler, because they did think it will stop him. Once Hitler Annexed whole country (which was not part of the agreenment at all) they did nothing. As we already know, it did not stop him.
The old comparison with Hitler… always the same old song… Just say that you need a new war, it will be more honest !! 🙂 Don’t invent ridiculous justification !!
Well here America had a point, until Pearl harbor. Then it was like alright allies time to fuck up some axis powers.
If Americans fell so Warmonger they should attack Mexico instead of starting a new war in Europe…
This sub is getting flooded by this kind of propaganda. There is more history than 1933-1945 and not everyone is the second Hitler. The other side may also think that they appeasing us and the result is that two cars will drive full speed at each other.
Hahahaha, the best answer when you hear “we saved your asses during WW2, kiss my donut”
Same thing happens now, I see everywhere tons of comments like that. Ppl blame NATO, Ukraine but never Russia. They keep saying that this is not US business.
who gives a shit ?
ignore or downvote this shitpost.
OP, if you want war, go ahead and be my guest, i’m watching you !
Exactly! Putin and Xi are likely coordinating a joint attack on Ukraine and Taiwan. We (NATO) should declare war on this. If not soon it will be a piece of Poland, Germany, Japan.
Russia is not doing or trying to do anything like what happened in the late 30’s. They are slowly creeping into territory in order to instigate political negotiations to sell gas to western countries, who have or will turn off the tap.
It is pretty hard to ignore the parallels between what Hitler was doing in the late 1930s and what Putin’s up to now. Threatening neighbouring countries, harking back to Greater Times, when Russia occupied most of Eastern Europe and making out that their settlers in other countries are victims, who need to be brought back into Mother Russia. ‘Heim ins Reich’ is what the Nazis called it, but the result was always violence, persecution and the forced subjugation of other peoples. Oh, and the endless lies. False flag actions and whipping their nationalists into a frenzy of flag waving and notions of superiority. Plenty of similarities there to be going on with, don’t you think?
I really wish that when people discussed the rightness or wrongness of the policy of appeasement, they’d refer to more than one data point. History has more people in it than just Hitler.
No rational citizen ever wants war, However sometimes it cannot be avoided.
If you let world leaders take whatever they want unimpeaded, whats to say they will stop when they reach your front door step.
Putin is a staunch Nationalist and wants to return Russia back to its Soviet glory days. Thats why hes got his sights on almost every former Soviet country. Is it the right thing to do to stand by and let him take whatever he wants to avoid conflict? To essencially say to former Soviet states “Well we dont want war so i guess you’ll just have to give up power and let your former overlords do what they like.”
Lets say war is completely off the table right: What do you do as a world leader right now to convince Putin to take his eyes off Ukraine? Like im genuinely curious as to what people think would be the best thing to do right now. – Im sure theres plenty that could have been done to avoid this situation but the situation is what it is, so whats the best course if action?
This is true.
On the other side, how to you convinve the voters of your country (no matter which country it is) that defending democracy, human rights and Ukraine/the Baltics is worth paying more for gas/imported products – generally, dealing with the economic backlash that tense relations with Russia/China will bring?
In most countries, the voters will think “let it be someone else’s problem, I want my money” and vote the government out.
Funny how so many people here disagree with a post that’s basically only saying “Appeasement doesn’t work with dictators”.

LOL, Putin is not Hitler. Even Xi is not Hitler.
Edit: I dont like Putin at all, and Xi is even worse.
Propaganda alert.
Let me tell you a story you probably never have learned about in the school, because allies won the war in the end…
