
So P48 in [DC15](https://issuu.com/planningauthority/docs/dc2015_851e7b0de470e8) states that solar panels and collectors should nt exceed a vertical height of 1m when mounted on a roof. However, every time I see a soalr water heater installed, they are always clearly much higher (as they are inclined optimally at 60°). So what’s the deal here? Because that would mean that any and all SWH installations are illegal which doesn’t seem to be plausible…

Actually that’s very plausible…
Afaik that rule is for the panels to be considered part of the budings standard services (like your water tank, many of which are also pretty illegal hehe). To go higher you need a dno.
