  1. You know from your “skattemelding” how much you underpaid. If you pay that amount with given kid and account number you all good.

  2. You hate taxes? Sure but at least the state does it for us, we just have to double check. In the US you have to do all the tax work then the state double checks.

  3. Just pay the amount before end of May!
If you pay after that, you need to pay the interest rate!

If you pay in june, after the invoice come to you, the amount is higher! So why wait?
I suppose you have checked everything is correct!

  4. You have the amount, account number and KID.
So you have everything you need in order to pay it now.

    Taxes er good.

  5. You can either pay directly to the bank account and kid number provided in the image, or you can wait until the invoice is dumped in your mailbox in june. If you wait for the invoice you will have to pay interest. That’s why they provide you the information you need to pay it now, and give you a chance to avoid paying extra interest.

  6. Pay your remaining taxes to the given account and kid number, but pay 90 kroner less than they demand. They don’t send a bill if the remainder is less than 100 kr. I do this every year, and it has worked so far.

  7. As everyone is saying. Pay the amount now. That said, I had to pay a bit over 20 000 NOK last year, and the interest amount if I had waited til June (and the flush of feriepenger was not very big. I want to say it was around 1000 NOK. But that information too should be on your skattemelding.

  8. Maybe by the “invoice” they mean the confirmation that you’ve paid, and not the bill to pay? In some places, the invoice stating the amount to be paid (as opposed to the confirming-how-much-you-paid) is referred to as “pro forma”, so it might be a language issue. I’m not a Norwegian though, so idk

  9. If your taxes is below 1000nok, then you’ll get 1 faktura with payment due around 20th August.

If your taxes is more than 1000nok, then you’ll get 2 equal fakturas with payment due 20th August and 24th September.

    From: Skatteetaten;

When you have paid too little tax through the income year, you have to pay interest on the underpaid tax. If you pay by 31 May, you will not have to pay any interest.

If you pay after 31 May, the interest rate is 3.51 percent. The interest is calculated from 1 July in the income year, that is the year before you submit your tax return, until you pay. This means that if you, for example, have underpaid tax for the 2023 income year, to be paid in August 2024, we calculate interest from 1 July 2023 until the payment date.

    Example
You have underpaid tax of NOK 1,000 and pay the whole amount on 20 August. Then you must pay interest of NOK 40.

You have underpaid tax of NOK 10,000 and receive two invoices. You pay NOK 5,000 on 20 August and NOK 5,000 on 24 September. Then you must pay interest of NOK 417.

You’ll save some money by paying early if you can, but if you have a big tax bill, interest is not that bad to split it over 2 months.
