  1. >At a Premier League Shareholders’ meeting today, clubs unanimously agreed to the introduction of Semi-Automated Offside Technology.

    >The new system will be used for the first time in the Premier League next season, and it is anticipated the technology will be ready to be introduced after one of the autumn international breaks.

    >The technology will provide quicker and consistent placement of the virtual offside line, based on optical player tracking, and will produce high-quality broadcast graphics to ensure an enhanced in-stadium and broadcast experience for supporters.

  2. well it was about time…this will clear eventual mistakes, but i expect some low ratesof deep passes behind last line, since it will be “harder” to stay clear of the line

  3. Get ready for “your big nose crossed the virtual line” type of bullshit next season

  4. I wonder how they’ll analyze situations like the Bruno/rashford goal a few years ago. Assuming var will still be checking that?

  5. If I’m interpreting this correctly, it will end up with more delayed offsides calls. I’ve seen too many injuries (e.g., Stones) and near injuries (e.g., Ederson) caused from clearly offisdes passages of play that were allowed to continue. Can we let officials actually officiate?
