10. There doesn’t appear to be any other sources verifying this. This article saying the US would formally extend the invitation after Kishida’s speech on Wednesday but it’s already a day past that. Australia a couple of days ago said Japan wouldn’t be invited to join.

17. I am not gonna lie, as someone who lives in Japan… The reception of Kishida’s visit to America has been an utter disaster. I see Redditors being really happy that Japan is potentially joining AUKUS but the Japanese reception is the complete opposite

    You can look up ”日本 AUKUS” on twitter. And also “岸田” for just a general feel of how the Japanese are feeling about this entire thing (you can translate the comments)

    I know Kishida’s reputation is already at its lowest but this likely might have ended his career
