Ecosystem collapse happening sooner rather then later

Already fragmented and stressed forest systems in Western Australia are now at risk of a massive collapse due to record breaking climate conditions. People are still pumping groundwater for their personal gardens/lawns and mostly unaware of how bad It could/will be. Farmers are in competition with native flora for the deeper groundwater.
Biodiversity is getting a hammering and everytime these events occur, the environments health is getting even sicker. It's a feedback loop and many fertile healthy farmlands depend on the forests for moisture, insects, cooler microclimates and keeping salty groundwaters away from the surface.
