Ok, this seems to be out of context but it sounds like she is refusing to get a job because she would stop getting certain benefits. Maybe, Universal Credit would be better for her. Granted, I am on the system but I’m a zero hour contract. I’ve been in the position where i’ve had fuck all available. The worst i’ve eaten is basically, chewing gum and that’s about it to sustain me for the entire day. That was when I had literally fuck all funds left when I was jobless. Oh and a polo. Dog food tends to be pricey. Beans on toast is one of the cheapest meals she could have made. It won’t be Heinz or Branston quality but cheap ones will do the trick.

There are way cheaper ways of sustaining yourself before eating dog food.
That said, she looks well for it. It must have been Pedigree.
Not sure I’d want to work with someone who reaches for the dog food before learning how to operate a bag of flour.
Dog food is more expensive than many canned products intended for humans.

You could write a lot of very enlightening, very compassionate articles about people struggling to meet ends meet, cost of living rises, the benefit system etc. Why would you write one which just makes everyone ask “why did she eat dog food?”
No one is forced to eat dog food, their are plenty of affordable ways to eat for even the most poverty stricken.
