  1. Good timing to come out while pedophiles are being outed as well. Who of the conservatives would put those two very different things together…?

Very wrong point in time… Sadly.

  2. I’m constantly baffled on how could a LGBTQ member also be a Christian, the old testament is pretty clear on what they would want to do with that sort of people…

  3. The church has been a safe space for gay men and lesbian women for centuries, while also being the reason for their closetedness. You didn’t have to get hetero married and could still be a very respected member of the community while having an alternative lifestyle.

  4. Good for them! Hopefully The church reverses their homophilic policies at some point. While I don’t believe in God and really dislike Religions, I still want the best for all the LGBTQ+ folk who are believers.

  5. If they knew a bit about the Catholic Church they’d know that the German Bishops can’t just change Church Law, even if they wanted.

They’d have to break with the rest of the Catholic Church.
Similarly they should know that their liberal approach isn’t really found outside of Germany.
So they’d be the only ones changing.

But then they wouldn’t be Catholics anymore.

  6. >”It’s time to finally make it clear that we exist and how wonderfully queer the body of Christ is.”

Oh, *that* will go over well with the conservatives.

  7. A lot of people neglect a big part of the discussion.

The church is an employer in Germany (Kindergarden, nursing homes, hospitals etc.), but they don’t have to follow Basic law about descrimination.

As an employer you cannot fire people for their sexuality or being trans, etc. but the church can Just do that.

So people want a reform that the church has to follow basic laws as any employer.
