1. “If found to have committed a crime” So not if found to have underpaid her tax then, only if criminal? Underpaying tax being not necessarily criminal. Sounds like a weasily built in get out of jail free statement to me.

2. Bold move for such a non-story. She must be extremely confident in her innocence, otherwise this could end up being the political suicide of the year

3. She’s obviously learnt from Kier Starmer when the Tories threw a spurious story about him committing a beer-related crime to distract from their own lockdown breaching crimes.

   She’s confident that she’s done nothing wrong and that this is a non-story, so she can make a bold promise like this.

   By contrast, Sunak has actually admitted to criminal liability over the lockdown parties (breaking the law that he helped to write) by accepting a fine. But he’s still not going to step down.

4. Good on her part…the whole fuss is clearly politically motivated, but she is right to stand by the simple principle of accountability

5. The secret is in the wording ….a crime…. Well there are many things which aren’t crimes per se but are offences and are gross misconduct
