Thats cool, never get interesting stuff like that in our garden
What a lad ❤️
Such a handsome long boy (or girl, or neither)
So that’s a slow worm (not a snake as I initially thought). But I’ve just been on google and read that there are three snakes that are native to the UK and one of them is venomous (although only dangerous if your wither old/really young/ill). I never really knew that and it just fascinates me.
Correct me if I’m wrong, but I believe that’s 1 of only 3 species of snake in Britain.
Is that his tongue or is he eating a slug?
Absolute unit, clearly the ones I find are only babies.
I once saw one of these in hamsterly Forrest luckily I just missed it with my bike.
Missed a trick by not measuring him in bananas…
Very cool, haven’t seen one in the wild.
long fella
What a beauty!!
Bloody hell I read the measure tape as 11ft!
Bloody hell that’s BIG for a slow worm. She’s got some age to her. (I assume female as the males tend to be smaller and a bit lighter in colour.) They can live a surprisingly long time, they have one of the longest life spans for a lizard worldwide.
Where abouts in the UK?
Never seen one.
Get nothing exciting here
So cuuuuuute!!
Nice 👍
Wow never scene one this size before (please no funny comments)
I used to love picking these up as a kid and making them nice homes in the garden, haven’t seen one for years
I thought it was cute until I saw the second picture. If I ever see one of those in my garden, I’m moving out and it can take over my tenancy.
He’s a shower not a grower
Beautiful! My cats bought one in last year and my wife managed to get it away from them, very chill little guy once she picked him up but like less than half the size of this one.
Cute little face!
I’ve only once seen a slow worm and it was more silver in colour. How much do their colours vary?
Awww I had a slo worm I found in my garden when I was 7. I called it Sidney Sheldon. I found it wrapped around one of the wheels on the TV cabinet one morning, I was devastated.
*blep*
If you would be so kind can I ask you make a log of this on the [UK amphibian and reptile record pool](https://www.recordpool.org.uk/)? The data is useful for conservation efforts.
Isn’t this just a snake?
This is the kind of content I’m looking for.
To anyone who wants them – get a good mound of grass cuttings going in a corner of your garden and wait. If you build it, they will come. Somerset here, the house i grew up had a garden full because of dad’s enormous compost heap. They love the heat.
That not a worm, thats a danger noodle.
That’s my wife’s name for my bits as well
That is a Big beautiful beastie!
Also the tongue pic is adorable.
Woah! Bewty!
What a cute little noodle.
I found one when I was a kid I kept it as a pet 😅
Wow that’s a long boy! Also I know they’re harmless but I would scream if I came across them 😭
