Campgrill from the US running on propane. Any idea if it would be possible to connect a propane/butane Swiss one on it with an adapter?

  1. A photo of the input port of the stove would be much appreciated 😉

  2. Should be fine with the typical gas grill refillable/exchangeable tanks. Doubt it would care if it’s burning a butane mix disposable. I do doubt if one of those would last a whole meal prep, but my experiences with this type are outdated.

  3. Comes with a hose and valve? Do you need to know the pressure the grill needs and look for a compatible valve.

  4. Short answer: No, especially not that bottle, that’s 7.5kg of butane. Meanwhile, the packaging shows the grill being used with a proprietary 440g gas cartridge. Those operate at a far lower pressure than the bottles do, so you’d need a regulator that fits Swiss bottles, matches the bottle pressure and regulates to the burner’s operating pressure AND matches the grill’s connector. This almost definitely doesn’t exist off the shelf **and should not be attempted to assemble by a layman**.

Luckily, Galaxus sells coleman gas cartridges in Switzerland.

  5. Be extremely careful. Unfortunately there is no international standard for gas connectors. There have been fires because people thought their foreign grill and Swiss flask were compatible when they were in fact not.

  6. I don’t think it works. I’m certain you can’t connect it directly to a Swiss tank. You may find adapters between the different connections if you search long enough, though I’ve tried and spent way too much time on it, and can’t even find one with two adapters in serial connection which would work. If you find a method keep in mind that just because it says it’s the same size (eg 1/4″) for both, doesn’t mean it really connects. The standards of US and Europe are just too different from each other.

I would try to find a similar product in Switzerland or even in neigbouring countries where you can go to buy new propane bottles if you run out. Otherwise it can get dangerous because of a leakiness or something
