We felt we had to share this so our customers can understand why at times we have to raise & charge the prices we do.

This is this year's RATES bill for our 120 capacity cafe in Rushmere Shopping Centre

Bare in mind we pay for our rent, bins, water & other services separately, what does £71k per year cover?

  1. Is that a mistake? How could that be real? That’s insane.

  2. This is madness however you all remember the ‘uppa workers’ you were shouting when the bin folk where on strike, where did ya think that payrise was going to come from?

  3. Whilst that might seem high, the ones who run this business are being sly here. They are making out they are some small wee cafe when in fact they also run a fairly sizeable catering business out of the same kitchen. They have also been notorious for very high pricing despite having bog standard food long before the current COL crisis. Last I was in it was about 10 years ago and was charged a fortune for chicken nuggets and chips that I’m 99% sure we’re just cooked from frozen. Check out come of their Google reviews and you’ll see what I mean

  4. Coffee shops make crazy margins. What the owner is more likely meaning is “my costs have gone up so I’m going to gaslight you to justify me raising prices to keep my margins”. They will undoubtedly make sure those margins actually grow a little.

  5. Legitimately thought this was the entire Rushmere for a moment. Jesus Christ. A basic commercial unit in Portadown comes in at around 3-4K a year in Rates. I appreciate Rushmere has serious footfall, but I’m not seeing how such a bill is justified.
