>”I realize that my customers’ appetite for higher prices is not unlimited. So, when I take price to relieve margin pressure, it has to be done thoughtfully and with a plan. Charging $10 for an Egg McMuffin or $20 for a Big Mac, for me, is a nonstarter,” he continued.

>In anticipation of the new law, Rodrick lifted his prices 5% to 7% between January and March. However, he says that more economic efforts are necessary.
Tons of McDonald’s shouldn’t exist, including their jobs because they were never sustainable businesses. Places like McDonalds and services like Uber all rely on underpaid labor from low minimum wage standards. They kept the wages low by paying/lobbying corrupt politicians for decades.
They would had never been allowed to exist in the first place if minimum wage had been incrementally lifted over time with the cost of goods/inflation, versus large jumps that they did in California and Florida.
The idea of a completely “free market” is lie a told by the ultra rich and giant corporations so that they can keep using their money to influence gov decisions that control the markets and laws in their favor. The US government is completely under corporate capture, this was sealed in place with the SCOTUS citizens united ruling.
A true free market is regulated to allow for competition and keep American living standards high.
If this corruption isn’t put in check then people will rebel more and they will want far more extreme changes, even willing to start a civil war to get them.
