In it’s current legal state as neutral county Austia cannot send armed troops.
We will and do however offer economical an humanitirian aid.

We’re well aware our military isn’t exactly world-conquering material, and that’s on purpose! After a couple of historic mix-ups, we decided it’s best to keep things low-key.
So instead of joining the fray, we’re mastering the art of hospitality. We figure if anyone’s coming to our rescue, they’re in it for the top-tier pastries and the legendary hospitality post-battle. Our contribution to world peace? Making sure no one leaves hungry.
As for world wars, we’ve had our fill, thank you. Now we’re more about world tours… through our vineyards and mountains!
Austria is a “neutral” state, but are they aware the EU as a common defense clause?
While the bloc isn’t meant to be primaly a military alliance, there is however the article 42 paragraphe 7 of the Maastricht treaty that states: “If a Member State is the victim of armed aggression on its territory, the other Member States shall have towards it an obligation of aid and assistance by all the means in their power”.
I am really not surprised but I don’t think they’re alone in this sentiment. Modern Europeans wouldn’t even wanna die for their own countries, let alone for other people’s countries. On the other hand, if you could sacrifice foreigners to protect your own country, most people would do it (even if they pretend they won’t).
Those are the Austrians I remember. For what it’s worth, I’m all for letting them choke on it if Putler ever makes it to them.
It’s the neutrality, supporting other countries with military is forbidden through our constitution.
People here don’t see us as a military power, we are not even in the NATO, we rather see our country as a desk where powers can negotiate. We also spend nearly nothing (0.6% of our GDP) for our military. I think there is no other institution that is seen more in a negative way than out military. Austrians also have no real intention to fight war if we get attacked, I think 70-80% of the male population would rather escape than fight.

Allthough the reasons might be a little more complex than this survey suggests, I – as atleast partly austrian south tyrolean dude would defend all of you depraved people.
The second question will always be almost automatically answered with “no” because “Muh neutrality”. Will take some time to undo that brainwashing, and someone would have to try first.

People forget that Austria is not a nato country and is “neutral”.
Neutrality is a weird concept. Belgium famously neutral during WW2 got attacked by Germany but requested help from France but didn’t help the poles.
Should be yes for both. Austria is obligated to help.
A lot of our politicians are deep in the pockets of the Russians and take money or still sympathize with them because they somehow mindbend their thoughts that Russia today is like the USSR.
