God damn it Germany, nuclear energy doesn’t bite, but Russian gas certainly does.

Nuclear and GMOs bad, Russian gas good?
Soon, coal will be green as well
Just to summerise, the commission asked to use biomethane and hydrogen before going full renewables. Germany said it would rather use gas.
They didn’t ask for gas to be labelled “green” like Czech Republic, Croatia, Poland, Romania, etc…
Merkel is an absolute disgrace for not investing in nuclear. Unforgivable.
What hypocrites
Absolutely insane by the German government. No to nuclear energy, no to hydrogen and biomethane. ONLY RUSSIAN GAS WILL SATISFY US.
And these people have to nerve to be constantly on their high horse while polluting the atmosphere. Infuriating hypocricy.
Germany has played itself in the corner with natural gas.
It is fully backing renewable technologies (e.g. solar and wind power plants). However, as they are unstable in production, these power plants always have to be supplemented with power plants that are easy to turn on when wind is not blowing or sun is not shining. Otherwise, the whole electricity grid fails. The cheapest (in terms of construction) and environmentally friendly solution for this is natural gas power plants. That is indicated by the amount of natural gas plants built and being built in Germany and around Europe in general.
So the more Germany wants to use renewable technologies, the more it has to use natural gas power plants. At the same time, since it wants to use renewable energy (e.g. sun and wind), it cannot have too many base load power plants that don’t shut down easily when sun is shining or wind is blowing. The electricity production would be too great for a stable network. So it had to close down the nuclear power plants to create space for wind and solar power plants to operate in. This was supplemented by new natural gas power plants.
Accordingly, it MUST oppose nuclear energy because of its stability. If there is enough stable nuclear energy then there would be no room for new wind and solar power plants.
ITT: people with no clue about energy policy getting outraged by reading only a headline
I am reiterating, this country Aka <Gazprom’s Federal Republic of Germany> is a Russian Trojan Horse in Europe.
Nuclear is better on every single metric
“Germany takes firm pro-gas stance…” I was like … WTF not again!
/s
Which is kind of ironic because gas is definitely not green. There is no question that it is better than coal, but it’s also compared to coal, because against any other renewable resource including nuclear it is highly carbon polluting, about 40-50% of coal carbon emissions.
Fuck Germany.
I think everyone reading this should know that gas is the greenest of the fossil fuels, by a big margin. This is an important fact that a surprising amount of people don’t know. It is cleaner than oil, which in turn is far cleaner than coal. Coal should be treated as the enemy of everyone – it kills through pollution as well as CO2.
They’ll be 20 years late in 10 years, good job !
Or it is possible to skip the entire energy storage problem by using nuclear power plants

1939. all over again. Classic Germans
Germany russian master says so.
certainly pro-russian-gas stance
Ah so green and nice.
