  1. Hah! I was just watching a related video from [Scary Interesting](https://youtu.be/gZimIw6tKCs?si=jH-I64RZGkyRIq9v) (about a ferry sinking in the Thames surrounded by raw sewage). Apparently the first efforts just pumped the sewage away from the west side of London (where the important people lived) to the east end and straight into the river there.
