The feds want to kill 470,000 barred owls on the West Coast. What are the ethics of mass slaughter?

1. Maybe they could do a deal with KFC.

2. Bring some to Central Park in NYC, they just lost theirs and are very upset about it.

3. Its an invasive owl they are targeting its pushing the natives ones out of their own ecosystems. Culling is just part of ecosystem management.

4. Ask PETA, they’re real good at this kind of cognitive dissonance.

6. Just north of there in British Columbia Canada we captured the last two spotted owls to try and breed them. For years and years people were trying to protect their habitat but logging is king. There’s never been any talk of a cull of the barred owl here but we do kill hundreds of wolves each year to “help protect the mountain Caribou”
   Meanwhile their habitat continues to be destroyed as well.

   This planned mass slaughter of the barred owl is a barbaric act from an outdated wildlife service that is out of touch with reality. ” We had to burn the village to save the village!” kind of thinking
