Weirdly I was convinced The Reynolds Girls got to number one with that God awful song but apparently not
I was watching a video there a few months back of a guy showing how to game Reddit and other social media and he said one of the best ways to get engagement is to include some obviously incorrect information in your post.
People love pointing out the error and get dragged into the comments section instead of just passing over the post.
iRadio is so fucking bad. Unfortunately it seems to be the station of choice where I work. They will use ANYTHING for content, recently they spent 3 hours talking about the THL pod finishing.
The last time an Irish solo act had a UK number one single was with Brian McFadden 20 years ago.
The Script was the last Irish Act to have a UK Number one single prior to Hozier
Just report it as false information with social issues and don’t engage on the post. Failing that just come away from Facebook in general and you’ll be all the more happier for it.
I know it’s wrong but I just wanted a good list so I went a did the 10 seconds of research, here is a good list:
1. U2
2. Enya
3. Sinead O’Connor
4. Boyzone
5. Westlife
6. The Boomtown Rats
7. The Corrs
8. Gilbert O’Sullivan
9. B*Witched – I’m surprised on this one as well but they had multiple
10. Ronan Keating
11. Hozier (obviously)
12. The Cranberries
13. The Script
14. Chris de Burgh
15. Dustin the Turkey – Maybe not, can’t find any specifics even tried an AI search with citations and they just linked the Irish sources for his number 1s. I think he might have just charted well in the UK but not number 1.
16. Damien Rice – Fastest selling single in the UK that year
17. Thin Lizzy
18. The Dubliners – like Dustin looks like I got this one from a bad source, their highest was 7th in the UK charts
19. Gary Moore (if you count the UK rock chart)
20. Foster and Allen
21. Dickie Rock and The Miami Showband
22. Dana
23. The Bachelors
iRadio is by far the worst radio station in Ireland. I’m not surprised they couldn’t do basic research.
Bewitched slander
Joe Lycett disclosed four fake stories he planted in the UK news last week….
But was there really 5…
*See can’t believe any of it now*
I really love the most recent album.
The boomtown rats were the first irish act with a no.1 in uk?

Just for reference before the arguments start
