The way the back of the memorial is only centimetres from the headstones behind it is really disrespectful. Literally overshadowed
Never nice when such a young ‘un dies.
Guess town just got a new tourist attraction…
“They have also asked how the family were allowed to purchase three grave plots for the massive memorial when they claim they are only allowed top purchase one.”
Going to assume that saying no wasn’t an option for the church authorities.
Jesus. Just a couple of more statues on that and it would look tacky.
Rodney and Del boy could sell them a bit of paint for extra effect
Was at a burial in Longford recently, wanna see some of the memorials in Ballymacormack, its like they’re trying to out-do each other.
Such a headstone should absolutely invoke a rigorous, far reaching, forensic audit by revenue.
Zero respect for the two graves behind this monstrosity. The family who put this up should be ashamed of themselves, it’s an infringement of other families at a place where their loved ones are laid to rest. This should never have been allowed.
Good Christians they are…now imagine what good that £150 k could do to a children’s hospice…sick world
Surprised that all the comments on facebook are saying flair play to them…. It’s horrendous
I live in my wife’s headstone.
All else aside, I thought it was for a bare knuckle boxer with a hape of kids. No. A youngfella of 21. Cancer. That fucking shit never discriminates.
Hope it has mica
That last supper is impressive work.
The flags are a bit much though.
I have noticed evolution in the tombs over the years. The depiction of favourite items and quotations from grieving relatives were recent imo. The addition of music and lighting seems new to me. I saw a US grave recently with a Q code for link to video of a couples life together. I’d expect further change. The swirling pillars a la Bernini might have had their day and the guard squad of saints statues might yield to new expressions.
The fundamental problem isn’t taste because that varies, it’s actually equity and enforcement of standards. A man in Tipp is facing jail for living in a log cabin on his own land. If regs are being enforced then they are enforced equally.
A lot of old peoples saving has paid for that.
“We see people calling it a ‘knacker’s grave’ and ‘tasteless’ and it’s very hurtful for us as a family.”
That answers my question so.
ugh!
One way or another, that monstrosity is getting removed eventually either by the council or local action
“It’s our culture boss!”
No respect shown for the surrounding graves and families. Knock that monstrosity
Only way to combat this is to set a national standard for maximum dimensions. Anything more and the headstone will be removed & the manufacturer fined for two or three times its cost.
There are other people in that graveyard who died of cancer and whose families will miss and mourn them just as much. The idea that their son was more deserving, that their grief is more special, that’s grosser than the ugly fucking tomb they’ve built. Waste of €150,000.
Joe Biden looks well with the gold glasses 🤣🤣🤣
I mean fair enough go ahead and do it, but if you can’t take the criticism that comes with doing such an ostentatious, arrogant, and frankly ludicrous thing to draw all this attention to it… maybe… don’t do it.
In the article linked within they quote the guy referring to ‘their culture’ and I learned something new today: [https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Irish_Travellers](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Irish_Travellers)
If there was ever a case for desecration this would.be it.

It’s their culture.
Should the taxman not be asking where the money for this has come from?
Id heard from a mate out that way that it also plays music, lights up and shite like that, its just very tasteless and disrespectful

Should we tell them they got the spiral patterns wrong on a few columns (likely upside down), unless random is what they were going for!!
I knew that there would likely be one of only a few likely surnames on that monstrosity…..and sure enough! LOL.
Wow….would something that large require planning permission?
That’s horrendously gaudy

Serious question. Where’d the money come from?
>Charlie McDonagh
Colour me shocked at the surname.

They also cracked a tombstone when putting it in
