  1. No it’s catastrophic because they pay shit minimum wage. Pay folk a decent amount and you’ll find staff.

  2. > Locatelli agrees: “Food is important in the Italian lifestyle. Young Italian people come to the UK to work in cafes and restaurants, and see it as a real art. It’s more than a job – it’s a career. People come to the restaurant for the Italian food and have commented that it’s strange to not have as many Italian staff as would be expected any more. This is catastrophic for the industry.”

Sorry, but it is not ‘catastrophic’ to have to hire Indians and Latinos because the supply of Italian twenty-somethings has dried up.

Some of the sentiments expressed in this article appear awfully close to the line vis a vis employment discrimination law.

  3. Well I hope it’s not Ci Tua Osteria, because their customer service is top notch /s

  4. It is catastrophic because the quality is noticeably going down and soon Italian restaurants will lose their charm and customers – hello generic pizza express. But generally the hospitality industry as a whole is suffering. Hospitality used to be respectable industry which now unfortunately under pays and treats it’s staff as disposable. I also wouldn’t be surprised if the owners of these restaurants voted for Brexit without fully appreciating the consequences.

  5. The only people making money in the restaurant game are Landlords.

You’ll never really get a nice little restaurant where they just want to make enough to bring their family up when you can only lease the building.

  6. Oh no, people don’t want to work unreasonable hours at high stress jobs for below living wages 😱
