UK Metropolitan Police arrests two ultra-Orthodox Jewish rabbis for ‘inciting anti-Semitism’ after burning the Israeli flag

1. Look, I get arresting people for flying swastikas or saying “gas the Jews”. That shit is hateful, doesn’t help and doesn’t belong. No problems with that.

   But now we are in a situation where two British Jews are being arrested for making a political statement about a foreign state.

   We are turning into Germany, and it is frankly terrifying. The assumption that Israel = Jews is inaccurate, dishonest and will ultimately hurt Jewish people. The message here seems to be Jewish Brits must obey Israel’s propaganda or be branded as “antisemitic”?

   Entities like LFI and CFI need to be investigated and shut down. We cannot call ourselves a democracy if politicians and policy can so easily be bought by foreign-aligned interests.

2. This is the kind of nonsense that you get when you have years of deliberately blurring the distinction between “criticism of the state of Israel” and “anti-Judaism”.

   I imagine the court case will be interesting, when they are tried for antisemitism and swear to tell the truth in court with their hand on the Torah.

3. The message is clear to all…follow the Isreali state narrative or face the consequences 🤨

4. The Met finally found some protesters they felt comfortable arresting for anti-semitism.

5. Our authorities are so used to the habit of labelling everyone who doesn’t support Israel unconditionally (even when they’re committing crimes against humanity) anti-Semitic that they forgot to turn it off when they were faced with actual rabbis.

6. I assume these guys are part of the [Neturei Karta](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Neturei_Karta). It’s a pretty interesting read because these guys have always been anti-Israel for weird religious reasons.
