European MPs accused of taking Russian money to spread disinformation • FRANCE 24 English

EU leaders are sounding the alarm over potential Russian interference in the upcoming European Parliamentary elections. They’re warning that the Kremlin is using disinformation in its attempts to sow divisions between European citizens. But they also warn of dangers coming from within EU institutions as several MEPs have been accused of acting as Russian agents. Siobhan Silke reports.

  1. How are the power plants of Ukraine doing today, 04/11/2024? How is the gas storage facility in Lviv? How are the Kharkov power plants? It’s not for you to shoot peaceful residents of Belgorod… the Russians are working correctly… Zelensky is very worried))))

  2. Finally, this is what is needed. Political parties that side with the principles of autocracy, anti-pluralism and leader worship characteristic of dictatorships are enemies of Democracy. Heads up for more investigations like the one made by Czech Republic. Populism and Social Media are outlets for their propaganda, something very dangerous when it puts in risk the Union that guarantees peace and coexistence in Europe.

  3. Innocent until proven guilty – last time I checked this was supposed to be sacrosanct in democracies. I have read nothing about the crime these people are charged with, nor the evidence to prove that they have committed it. I keep thinking the EU could not sink lower and I keep discovering that it can.

  4. They have in fact been taking American money. Why do you think European leaders look so trance-like while making policy decisions detrimental to their countries and citizens?? It lies in their incessant greed for money the bulk of which comes from US military purchases

  8. Lol……still no evidence. Just allegations. Russia has become all powerful if they're able to do all these and "threaten" an entire continent. So one cannot have a differing opinion again?, they must be corrupt if they don't think like you? The EU is just sad at this point. This is witch-hunt that'll likely yield nothing, and they know it.

  11. Eight years after 2016, Russian interference attempts are like an old play in sports: You know what we are going to do and we are going to keep doing it until you stop us.

  12. Now who are the others? Daly and Wallace? And then the 3 of them have fiercely defended a certain convicted Russian spy Algirdas Paleckis from Lithuania! They are all connected and we allow them to carry on with their undermining of democracy in Europe.

  15. Russia is sponsoring politicians and even political parties in various Eastern countries, that's how they're trying to control European politics.

  20. All corrupted, has nothing to do with Russia. There's Europe propaganda, USA propaganda, Russia propaganda, Ukraine propaganda etc. propaganda is a cancer, it's everywhere
