  1. >An estimated 3,898 people slept rough in 2023, an annual increase of 27% – the largest annual rise since 2015. The numbers are more than double (up 120%) those in 2010.

Under 4,000 in a city of this size, it’s not that much right?

    >Meanwhile, the government is facing a backbench rebellion over plans to criminalise those who sleep on the streets.

    Of course.

  2. If he can do that ‘after he gets re-elected’ why did he not do it since he got elected?
Also, did he not promise this before?

Oh .. wait … yeah, it’s election time again!

  3. Unless it’s done by force it won’t happen. Not everyone can cope with living in a house full time. For some, unless they are fully supported, its just not sustainable. Some prefer the street. I know that seems odd but it’s what they know and where they feel “safe”. If it were me I’d offer no strings nightly digs with food/medical etc and the opportunity to go for a tenancy if they wanted it.

  4. And yet he also wants rent control, which worsens housing supply.

  5. Ah yes, the Final Solution to the Rough sleepers question. The Tories being Tories

  6. There’s an election coming up, thanks for the reminder Sadiq

  7. He needs to stop giving immigrants priority for housing then as well as giving them preferential treatment for everything over English people
