  1. And how are they going to monitor that? Oh yeah, identity verification. To protect the kids the rest of the population will need passport and photo uploads. Ideal for the media companies, ideal for the government.

  2. “Could” is doing a lot of heavy lifting in this headline.

  3. Online identity and age verification is a great way for your personal information to be exposed to cybercriminals.

  4. Only thing i got at 16 was my National insurance number. They gonna use this as the way to verify age?

  5. Privacy Violating Age Verification by the backdoor, don’t support this.

  6. More authoritarianism and surveillance from a joke of a democracy government with half elected representatives. How about they start maintaining basic services of the state rather than telling everyone what to do?

Everyone was shocked when China’s CCP started regulating their under-18’s technology use, such as a 40 minute cap on gaming. Now it’s coming to Britain.

    >Ministers want to give parents more control

Childcare subsidies and childcare provisions have been proven to give perents more control and more choice but the government keeps cutting them.

Other policies to bring families closer together Tory MP’s would never consider include youth subsidies, more parks and playgrounds, increase family leave/pay, youth and perent mental health services, a 4 day work/school week so family can spend more time together and flexible working hours for perents.

More general welfare policies like widespread affordable housing, an improved benefits system (possibly including UBI) and jobs programs would help to.

  7. Because no teenagers have ever gotten around an age filter.

These laws are not only ineffective, they punish adults with extra hoops to jump through. For example, having to prove you’re above 18 to turn off mobile phone adult filters despite purchasing it and passing the finance check as a 26yo person.

  8. This requires everyone on the internet to have their privacy violated.

Its also a straight up attack on LGBTQ kids and any kids with abusive parents.
